Rachel Worth – Musical Director

An experienced choral director, Rachel Worth has led Cantare since its inception in 2010. She is passionate about making music fun, whilst working hard to achieve the highest standards of performance. Under Rachel’s direction, Cantare has developed a wide range of repertoire from classical choral works to jazz and swing, and her vision and expertise has allowed the choir to achieve notable success in both local and national competitions. Away from the choir, Rachel teaches music at Southend High School for Boys, where she is also Assistant Headteacher. She is conductor to four vocal ensembles at the school, including a Male Voice Choir, Girls’ Choir and an award-winning mixed voice Chamber Choir.

Andrew Palmer - Accompanist

Andrew Palmer studied music at Surrey University specialising in performance and composition before completing a PGCE course at Kingston University. Andrew has worked extensively as accompanist and chorus master with local groups including Billericay, Southend and Leigh Operatic and Dramatic societies and also as singing tutor at local stage schools including MAPA and Singer Stage School. Andrew is a local Primary Headteacher where he runs a choir and orchestra. He has led the school to achieve the prestigious Artsmark Gold award on 5 successive occasions and is the Primary representative of the Southend Music Hub. Andrew is also accompanist and arranger for local singing trio, Trillogy
