Saturday 28th November 2014 – Southend on Sea Music Festival

Once again, Cantare's consistant high level of performance results in winning The Clare Singers' Award, The Premier Class for Choirs and The Ladies Choirs Class.
Cantare was additionally awarded the Freda Parry Presentation Bowl for the most outstanding all-round choral performance.

Saturday 29th November 2014 – Southend on Sea Music Festival
Cantare again took part in the Ladies Choirs Class and The Premier Class for Choirs and were awarded 89 and 88 marks respectively.  As they were the only choir in each class and received the requisite number of marks (above 85), they were awarded both the Musical Council Shield and the HWL Hobbs Challenge Shield.  In addition they were awarded (for the 4th year running) the Freda Parry Presentation Bowl, for the most outstanding all-round choral performance at the festival.

Saturday 10th May 2014 - Choir of the Year, Warwick Arts Centre
In the face of fierce competition from some stunning choirs, Cantare was not able to progress further in this national competition but very much enjoyed the experience of participating.

Saturday 30th November 2013
Southend Music Festival - Cantare won both the Ladies Choirs Class and the Christmas Choirs class at the Southend Music Festival.  For the 3rd year running, Cantare was additionally awarded the Freda Parry Presentation Bowl for the most outstanding all-round choral performance.

Saturday 24th November 2012 
Cantare won both the Premier Class for Choirs and the Ladies Choirs Class at the Southend Music Festival.  For the second year running, Cantare was additionally awarded the Freda Parry Presentation Bowl for the most outstanding all-round choral performance.

Saturday 27th May 2012
At the Choir of the Year 2012 audition in Edgeware on May 27th, Cantare was highly successful and was selected as a "Choir of the Day". The choir then went through to the National Selection round from which 4 choirs in the Adult Choir category were  selected from 20 other successful Adult Choirs of the Day.  Unfortunately, Cantare were not selected to proceed any further in the competition but the whole experience was enjoyable and challenging.

November 2011
Cantare  won their sections in both the Chelmsford and Southend Music Festivals.  In the Southend Festival, Cantare was additionally awarded the Freda Parry Presentation Bowl for the most outstanding all-round choral performance.

CD

Saturday November 8th 2014
Festival of Remembrance 7.00pm The Salvation Army Chelmsford.
Over £600 was raised on the night for the Royal British Legion.

Friday 4th July 2014
Concert in aid of HARP who provide help and support for the homeless in the area
Also featuring the Southend Band. The concert with raisedover £800.

Saturday 21st June 2014 
The Swing Concert was a resounding success, held cabaret-style and featuring Stuart Woolner and the Cantare Swing Band.  The performances featured Motown hits, songs from Sister Act (complete with Nuns' outfits!), and backing support for Stuart's repertoire, including Michael Bublé's "Cry Me a River".  The concert and retiring collection raised £850 for the Mencap's Southend Music Man project.

Saturday 17th May 2014
The concert at St Peter's Church was well received and  £700 was raised for the Smile International trip to Kosovo.

Saturday 22nd March 2014
Cantare performed 2 x 25 minute programmes at a concert hosted by the Southend Wind Orchestra, at Westcliff High School for Boys.

Saturday 8th March 2014
At a fundraising concert for the Freda Parry scholarship fund at SHSB, Cantare performed 2 x 15 minute slots. Our accompanist, Jonathan Morell, also gave dazzling performances on marimba and vibraphone.

Saturday 7th December 2013
Cantare performed to a packed church a full Christmas Concert at St. Laurence Church, Eastwood
This concert was to raise fund for Friends of St. Laurence Church.

Saturday 16th November 2013
Cantare performed at St Lukes Church, Tiptree.  There was a varied programme including soloists from withing the choir in song and verse and featuring Jonathan Morell playing a stunning piano solo.

Saturday 26 October 2013
Holy Trinity Church, Rayleigh was filled to capacity with an audience of over 200 to hear the performances of Cantare and Southend Young Singers.  This young girls' choir, under the direction of Natalie Lazell, gave some very moving performances , including Howard Goodall's The Lord is my Shepherd with a beautiful solo by Eleanor Worth.  For only 10 singers they made a wonderful, full sound.  Cantare presented a varied programme including a lively Gospel section and introducing some new songs which they will also perform at Southend Music Festival in November.  The concert raised £1,130 for the Rochford and Rayleigh and Citizens' Advice Bureau.

Saturday 10th August 2013
Cantare presented two short sets of their popular repertoire at the Priory Museum, Priory Park at a fundraising event for the Mayor's Charity.  Also taking part were Southend Girls' and Young Men's Choirs.

Friday 5th July 2013
At Rettendon Church, Cantare presented a mixed programme, together with several soloists , including Jonathan Morell on marimba.  The evening raised £450 for Church Funds.

Friday 28th June 2013 
At Crowstone Christian Centre, Cantare performed in a concert with Southend Girls Choir and the Southend Young Men's Choir.  The event raised £2,662 for HARP, a local charity which supports homeless people.

Sunday 28th April 2013 
Cantare contributed 2 x 15 minute programmes to the Salvation Army Evening Praise service at Hadleigh Temple.

Saturday 1st December 2012
Cantare staged their own Christmas/Winter Concert at Southend High School for Boys.  In the first half, Cantare performed a programme of their popular repertoire, followed by Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols with harp accompaniment and some Christmas songs. St Bernard's School Choir performed a selection of choral pieces, conducted by Hilary Pell who also performed a solo.  There were also brilliant performances by some talented young soloists. The concert and the post-concert collection raised over £2,000 for a local charity, Peaceful Place, which supports people with young onset dementia.  See their website www.peacefulplace.co.uk

Saturday 13th October 2012
Cantare performed a full programme with solo items to an appreciative audience at Great Bromley Church (Nr Colchester).
The concert raised an astonishing £577 for restoration work on St George's Church which is a Grade 1 listed building.

Wednesday 18th July 2012 - Cantare held its first AGM.  
Committee was voted in and thanks and gifts were given to outgoing Committee members and supporters.

Friday 6th July 2012 - Southend welcomes the Olympic Torch 
Many members of Cantare joined with other adult choirs and children's choirs on Southend seafront to sing "Anthem" to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic Torch to Southend.  This was an inspiring community and musical event.  The composer Tolga Kashif joined with 5 other local music directors to conduct nearly 2,000 voices on the day. Saturday 29th June 2012 Fund-raising Concert - Southend High School for Boys
Cantare and the Southend Girls Choir performed a full programme of music.  This very successful evening raised £2,100 for local Southend charity, HARP (Homeless Action Resource Project).

Saturday 26th May 2012  St Margarets' Church, Leigh-on-Sea
Cantare were guest performers at Southend Wind Orchestra's own concert and received high praise and thanks from David Clark, their music director.

Saturday 24th March 2012 Fund raising Concert St Teresa's Church, Rochford
Cantare perfomed a full programme of music at this well-attended concert which raised £990 for Christian Aid.

Saturday 10th December 2011  St Laurence Church, Eastwood
Cantare were guests at this concert and performed a selection of seasonal music with a variety of guest soloists and musical groups.
